Thinking about buying a Sony playstation 3, I want to use it for a media extender not games.?

I mainly want to use the ps3 as a blu-ray player and media extender with TVersity on my new hdtv, will this work well for what I want to do?
Are there better options that may work for what I want to do?

Its really good for Music, Videos, and Pictures. And also, the Blu-ray Player is really nice. I use mine as a media center.

Yes get it. I use music, video and photos on it all the time. Since I don’t have an HDTV I don’t use the Blu-Ra feature though. Even if that’s all your using it for that has to be at at least one game that will interest you. Perhaps Motorstorm or Little Big Planet.

yes you should buy it, a ps3 is an all around media centre and though you are not buying it for games its not a bad option to have i’m sure some day sum how some game might intrest you and you will have that option

I personally use Nero Media Home over TVersity to stream my video (as I find it easier), but yes, the PS3 is great for playing other media.

Plus it has the bonus of playing awesome games. Even if you aren’t a "hardcore" gamer, I’m sure you can find something on the PS Store (PS3 online store) that you’d find entertaining. Those games are much more casual then the average bluray disc release.
