used sony laptop with the following qulaities is it good to buy?

someone puts his/her sony laptop for sale it is with 17 inches, hard 80, and ram 1 G,

is it good totry , is there anything else i should be asking about and check first?

    how old is it what operating system is on it have they ever had any trouble with it has it ever crashed why? and can you get on line with it before you buy it to see if it actually works

    When it comes to Notebooks (Laptops) there nothing better than Compaq.

    However still,
    - you further need to know about it's battary, if it had been replaced, if yes, as to how long?
    - Find out if it's ever been repaired by checking out for any marks on it's body screws/alen screws.
    - Check for any body damages to find out it it had ever fallen.
    - Check it's LCD Screen for any blank / dark areas
    - Forget not to check it's ports & docking bay connector by practically attaching devices.

    I guess the list is long enough to ensure you have made the right buy.
