its a sony digital handicam. words with dvds, rws. i know its a usb cord. but, i dont have the right cord to connect it. i have another sony camera, and the cord that came with that one doesnt fit either. HELP please, i'm so confused.
Do you mean that your camcorder records into mini DVD directly? if yes, then this camcorders doesn't come with USB feature, you put the DVD directly into you PC and copy the files straight away.
if the camcorder use Mini Dv (tiny tape) or hard drive then it should come with USB which definitely fit into your camera and PC.
Write down the camera model number which start with (DCR-XXXXXX) and I will till you about it

Are you inserting the USB cable the correct way? Most of sonys USB cables are the same. If you still have difficulty you can buy a mini USB-B cable.

Thats a USB-b to USB-b cable, but the little connectors on the end is what you need along with a regular usb connector.

DVDs don't connect to computers you need to finalize the disk and put it into the computer and then work with it using paid software.

With the video cameras that take a mini DVD, you can finaize the DVD in the camera and then your DVD rom should be able to read it. Otherwise if you are trying to download your camera via a USB connection, it's not going to work. To download video you need a firewire connection. You need a firewire card (ieee1394) installed in your computer and then a firewire (dv) (ieee1394) cord to connect your camera to your PC. The firewire card is not very expensive and is easy to install.
