I have three kids the oldest is 8 years old. I want to get them a game system for Christmas, and I’m looking at the Playstation and the Wii. I have heard the Wii has had some problems but is better for kids. My husband wants the Playstation since it has Blue ray. Which one is better for it’s price?
The answer is… It depends.
The Wii is loaded with excellent Nintendo classics, such as Mario and Zelda. The control system is totally new, and for the most part it works well. It has some great features, such as a service that lets you download old games (such as NES games) for a small fee, and an internet browser, which also costs a small amount. It’s a lot cheaper than the PS3 as well. However, the graphics are no where near as good, and some miss more mature titles, as well as multimedia features, such as a DVD player.
The PS3 is intended more as a whole around media system. It has blu-ray, DVD, and MP3. The graphics are mind-blowing, but to get the most out of it you need an HDTV, and those don’t come cheap. Has some great games, and is still improving. Most of the good games are for older people though, and the PS3 isn’t exactly cheap.
Both have online capabilities.

I would probably say the wii is a better choice. i’m not a big fan of the wii but my younger brother has one and it can be fun to play at times, although it’s novelty kinda wore off for me. the ps3 doesn’t really do it for me either, xbox has it beat with better games and you can find a bluray player cheap nowadays for 200 bucks. an xbox would probably satisfy both your kids and your husband, i love mine and at first i wanted a ps3 badly, but now not at all.

PS3, would be my choice. Better graphics, dependable, doesn’t break down like the xbox 360. My son has one and it’s been send in to get repaired 4 times.Wii is better for kids, but you can also get interactive games on PS3. Also, you can surf the internet with the PS3 and if you play on-line there is no extra cost to play games on-line, like the xbox.

The Wii is great fun to play with because it is so interactive and better for younger kids. The first one I got had golf and tennis with it and the whole family were playing them in minutes. You can get some really good games for it that don’t need to much to figure out how to play. I got a free guide that tells you where you can download nintendo wii games at the website below.

ps3 is much better but you just sit down and touch buttons
Wii doesnt have as good games but you move and have fun, its kind of like your actually doing whats on the TV

If your oldest is 8, get the Wii. The PS3 is loaded with games for teens.

I would definitely say the Wii. I have a console at home and I really enjoy the games available for it. If you actually go and see the games, many games are suited for your kids to play. The Playstation is more likely suited for those who are older, not young kids.

The Wii is the better choice. I have two boys, a three year old and a 8 year old and they love the Wii. The games they make for the Wii are perfect for a child. I also own a xbox360 and a Ps3 wich I love to play, but only allow my 8 year old to play a few games. Im sure your husband will love the ps3 but is this a gift for your kids or him?

I have a 360 and a Wii For little kids a wii is better but the Wii is kind of alternative gaming dont get me wrong it is fun but sometimes the motion sensing is kind of abused I would reccomend the wii for your case though

It depend on which angle you are looking at:-
If you are talking about value worth for a real gamer, playstation 3 is better because it can offer more games, better game graphics in future, free playstation 3 online games, use as bluray disc to watch HD movies also an add on value for lot of gamers.
These advantages are more for a gamer like your husband.
Nitendo WII game graphics is a bit less quality, but it is more sporty while playing the games; which you will really feel tired by swing your hand action as per the game required.
It will more like your child will doing exercises during playing games – more good for health; and sure he cant afford to play long hours compare to play ps3 because he will get real tired by exercise his hand in wii game, and just sit and press the button in ps3 games.
This will ensure a more healthy life for a child..
So, it is your opinion to think which is more important?
