What is the best handheld game system for a 10 years old boy, the SONY PSP or the NINTENDO DS?

I am a grandfather. I like development games and I promise to my grandson to buy him a handheld game system. What is the best handheld game system for a 10 years old boy, the SONY PSP or the NINTENDO DS or something else?
Thanks.

Try the new DSI for a little boy. It can know take pictures and you can edit them and do lots of cool tricks. Plus the games are more child suited, like mario or nintendogs or animal crossing (Mario and Zelda are more for boys actually). Buy a PSP in maybe 3 years time, as the games are more suited for older people. Hope I helped.

The Nintendo DS is the better choice. It is geared towards the younger crowd as well as the older crowd. And the game library is better for the DS. Also, as far as cost, the DS is cheaper, so if you're worried about your kid breaking or losing the DS, it would cost half as much to replace as the PSP.

I'm a much older boy and I prefer the PSP.

For ease of use, I'd say the Nintendo unit is better. If others at school have one, they can be used to wirelessly send little messages and doodles to one another. It's got the large Nintendo library and Mario-themed games. Being a cartridge-based system, it's slightly more durable.

The PSP has a lot of potential though. With a memory card inside, you can play digital music files, and with some know-how, videos too. The games are more graphic intensive because the PSP has a more-detailed (single) screen and a faster computer inside.

If your grandson is a tech-minded guy, I'd go with the PSP. If he's not, get him the new DSi (note the "i" in the name) which is the upgraded Nintendo DS – it has little cameras built-in. It's a fun little gimmick I'm sure and the kids love it. The DSi can play music too because there's a memory card slot now.

I think the DS would be the best choice. PSP mainly has violent games rated T or past. DS has E-T games and there are RARELY T games on there. I would recommend getting him a DSi, but that is mainly because it is more durable than both PSP and original DS.

DSi is more kid-oriented. when he's older, you probably can consider a psp.
