What is the best Sony camcorder and format to buy?

I want to film my baby girl as she grows. My price range is around $500. I have a Sony HD TV, so I want a camcorder that is compatiable.

Most Sonys are good cameras and are compatible with all TVs.
- Look for a MiniDV format one, which is the best, since DVDs and HDD cameras have lossy compressed videos.
-You could probably think of spending more and buying a HD camera which has a miniDV
