What is the sony playstation eye?

What does it do and what is its purpose? If you have the sony playstation eye do you still need a wireless headset for games like COD4?
The PlayStation eye is pretty much the eye toy 2
its like a web cam for the PS3
it can be used for voice and video chats and also eye toy type games like Trials of Topoc, where the image from the camera is projected onto the floors of a tower and you have to guide a ball down the tower by moving about in front of the camera to make the floor move to roll the ball.
it can be used instead of a headset but then the voices from everyone else come out of the TV speakers and it can be hard to hear if you have guns firing in the game, etc at the same time.

The eyetoy is a webcam camera for the PS3. It has a built in microphone too and its main purpose is for video chats with your friends. Its also compatable with some weird PS3 games from the playstation store, card games im not sure…
You can use it for voice chat instead of a headset. Using a rubber band you could put it onto your face xD. Its wired and good quality but most people would prefer a headset
