What should I look for in a Sony Vaio notebook?

I need one for college next fall and I'm not sure what i should be looking for when buying a Sony.. help?

Also can anyone give the pros/cons of Sony vs a Mac?

Sony is the worst. Their repair record on their laptops is very high, and the repairs are on major components. I've had three brought in that needed new motherboards in the last few months. Get any other brand but a Sony.

Advice is to check with the school and see what they require. You might not be able to use a Mac, or Vista, or Office 2007. check with the school!!!
