What’s the best lens for a Sony Digital SLR camera?

I am looking for the best reasonably priced lens for a Sony Digital SLR camera that is used for general purposes including wedding photos and things like that. Any help would be appreciated.

For those events a good general 24 to 85mm lens will give you what you need.

There are really no "reasonably" priced lenses for SLR cameras. Some are just more money than others.

Too bad you said "reasonably priced," since Zeiss finally came out with a lens for the Sony. This has been long-awaited and it is an excellent lens, but it’s not cheap!

fhotoace is a pro, so follow his suggestion for the most useful focal length for your purposes.

Because of the varying subject matter at weddings, you’ll want a zoom that goes from moderate wide angle to moderate telephoto.

Here’s a page with your choices:

I would go for the 18-70. It’s a bit slow but the 16-80 is much more expensive and not that much faster.

    Hope this helps.
