It’s been a long time now and i see no end in sight for the PS2 funeral.
Do you think it shows weakness from Sony that they haven’t FULLY adopted the PS3?
And do you think it is slowing true next gen games down? Considering you see ports of sports games for next gen and last gen.
I loved the ps2 but i think it’s time to let it go.
I don’t think they will for a while because some people can’t afford the PS3. Sony will make more money while selling the PS2 and the PS3.

when people stop buying them, then they will hault production. Its one of the most purchased systems of all time so it has a huge fanbase. They recently have not made any games for it as they are all "next gen" games or current games now. Its just a matter of time. Maybe a couple years.

Well, they are designing a smaller version of the PS2, so not any time soon.
Certainly not whilst it’s still making them money, and it’ll keep doing this whilst mutli-format games like fifa and call of duty are being released on it.

They’ll manufacture it as long as it’s selling as well as it has been.
Most of the ports you see are of games that got churned out in 6 months or less to make a quick buck, like movie-based games, and a lot of sports games. The real, hardcore games don’t get the same treatment.
To be honest, if Sony would just stop downsizing backwards compatibility in the PS3, I would happily wish the PS2 a fond farewell, and so would a lot of other people… but they seem to think BC doesn’t matter to the majority of gamers.

Not for a while, maybe another 4-5 years possibly.
The PS2 did really well in its generation so I don’t see why they have to phase it out soo soon

They continued making and supporting the PS1 for 9 1/2 years, and plan on doing the same for the PS2 for at least 10 years.
