I have a Sony VAIO notebook whihc I bought 6 months ago and it came with no windows installation disc. I am getting a "windows failed to start" problem. File:\windows\system32\DRIVERS\compbatt.sys
Status: 0xc0000001
Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing or corrupt
It has WIndows Vista not XP
You have to burn your own recovery CDs from the recovery partition, but since you cant do that now. Try this , turn on the computer and tap the f8 key a menu should come up, "scroll to the use last good configuration that worked " hit enter. If that doesnt do it> Go to the sony site or look in your manual and 1st see how to run chkdsk from a cold boot, it may be a repairable error. (chkdsk just scans for errors and repairs them) if not see what the f key shortcut is to repair or reinstall windows from you recovery partition.
